Editing Wildlife Photos
Take your photos to a next level with a private editing lesson!
Not all photos need much post-processing but a little touch can make a big difference! I have spent more or less time on editing every photo that I have ever published anywhere. Sometimes it’s just very basic editing such as adding brightness or sharpness but sometimes the photo needs a bit more processing to reach the maximum potential that the photo has in my mind. I prefer not to “manipulate” my photos by adding or removing objects but still to make the final photo much nicer than the original RAW-file.
You can now book a private editing lesson with me. We will connect via Zoom (or other app), I will share my screen and show you slowly step by step how I edit my photos. I will show you all the best editing tricks I know and how they work in different situations. I will show some examples with my own photos, but I can also show the process by editing some of your photos. You are free to ask any questions during the lesson.
For who is this lesson suitable for?
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never edited a photo before if you’re already quite experienced in editing. We will adjust the teaching to fit your skill level and make sure you’ll learn as many new things as possible. However you will learn faster if you are at least somehow familiar with using Lightroom.
How long is the lesson?
I don’t want to set a fixed time for this lesson, as I want to be sure that you learn well all the things that I show you. We might be done within an hour but we can also spend another hour if we feel so. 2-3 hours should be the maximum of what this lesson should last.
What editing apps are used during the lesson?
Most of the editing happens in Adobe Lightroom Classic. You don’t necessarily need any other apps. If you want, I can also show some editing with Adobe Photoshop, Topaz Denoise and Topaz Sharpen. I can also give you some tips about editing photos with a smartphone.

Use cropping to make the photo more interesting. Learn to effectively crop photos and increase pixel size without losing too much quality.
Make greyish raw-files look better in general.
Fix too dark or too bright photos.
Play with colours and tones to fit your own style.
Use local adjustments (graduated filter, radial filter, brush tool, AI selection) effectively.
Make the animal stand out from the background (lighting, blurry background etc.)
Revive blurry / out-of-focus pictures
Get rid of noise without losing too much details

I would highly recommend working with Ossi to improve your editing and post processing skills. I had a number of images which i felt were really good RAW files but had spent hours attempting to edit them and never really being completely satisfied with the final image. Ossi talked me through his process first and then we spent over an hour reviewing my images and each and every one Ossi found a way to improve in a way I hadn't even considered. I am really pleased with the outcome on those photos but I have also been able to apply the knowledge Ossi has shared with me to all of my images and feel much happier with my end product.
The workshop with Ossi covered everything from start to finish, his editing process, editing my photos, how to get the best out of lightroom, photoshop and even how to remove noise using some other tools.
Perhaps most impressive though was Ossi's skill in identifying the best "plan" to edit an image and some of the key principles he applies. It was very clear he is very skilled at visualising a final image and then using the tools to create it.
